from my own personal devotional time, I read this scripture from Ps. 119:129
Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul observes them.
II Chronicles 34:2 says about Josiah [who became a king at the age of 8]:
He did right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of his father David and did not turn aside to the right or to the left.
Now why would he walk in the ways of the Lord like David when his father Ammon & grandfather Manassah had been evil kings?
Because at the age of 26 a godly leader read to him from the law [torah] and it engaged him.
II Chronicles 34:31
Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the LORD to walk after the LORD, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant written in this book.
Now read Ps. 119:131, 132-135
~Unselfish prayers with a promise to obey
Ps 119:136
~Weeping for those who do not keep God's law [precepts or statutes]
I opened my mouth wide and panted, For I longed for Your commandments
Turn to me and be gracious to me, After Your manner with those who love Your name. Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, That I may keep Your precepts. Make Your face shine upon Your servant, And teach me Your statutes. My eyes shed streams of water, Because they do not keep Your law.
