Guarding against sin

my own personal study this morning goes right along with the bible study i've posted on Ps. 19.  I am reading in Ephesians 4:1 which says,
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (Eph 4:1). LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

We're to know the right doctrine before duty and knowing and obeying God's Word helps us walk worthy by protecting us from sin.  God has given us the means to resist temptation.

Ps. 119:11 says Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
The Holy Bible: King James Version. (2009). (Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version., Ps 119:11). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.

That is why it is so important to study God's word and KNOW His word and HIDE His Word in our heart.  Without the knowledge His word provides, we are defenseless and vulnerable to false doctrines &/or teachers.  Knowing His truth in the Word enables us to say no to sin and yes to doing what is right [righteousness].  If we don't constantly keep His word at the forefront of our mind we will find ourselves easily entrapped in sin again and again!  Now that we know the truth of God's word so that we can defend ourselves against sin and obey His word, we will be held accountable for what we know.  James 4:17 says to him that knows to do good and doesn't do it, to him it is sin [my paraphrase].  II Peter also talks about apostates who once knew about Jesus but returned to their former life without ever committing themselves to him.  vs 21 of chp 2 says that it would have been better for them to have never known the way of righteousness.  Knowing and obeying is the best so let's be like newborn babes and long for the pure milk of the word so we can grow in respect to salvation [I Peter 2:2], otherwise, it is spiritual starvation!
How does Ps 119:9 [Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.] relate to you?  You can read in Proverbs 7 about a young man who gave into temptation and contrast him with Joseph in Genesis 39.  Remember to Know God is to Know His Word and How we are to live!
