It's All In Your Mind

Most of us as Christian's assume that the way of living a Christian life is about what we do or don't do but in actuality, it's about our attitude.  Because our attitude determines what we do.  So what is an attitude?  You probably have heard that "everything begins in the mind".  You would be correct!  Here is the definition of attitude:
  • manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing;
  • tendency or orientation, especially of the mind

Another thing you may have heard is "Your actions have consequences" but I will submit to you that "Ideas have consequences"  because everything begins in the mind! So how do we "fix" this? 1st we have to realize that the Bible talks about the mind a lot.  Then we have to realize that we have a human part of us that we have to "fight" to "be in our right mind" LOL.  We also have to realize that we have to "put on & put off"...
Here are verses [linked] that talk about the mind:
Is. 26:3 [note-scroll down after clicking on the link & read the definitions from the Hebrew]

Ephesians 4:1-3.  These verses reveal a basic truth: the Christian life is not primarily about what we do but who we are. When Paul teaches about the worthy walk, about how we live each day, he never discusses actions, only attitudes.
Unfortunately, many Christians miss this point. To them, being a Christian is primarily a list of do’s—going to church, putting money in the offering, carrying a Bible—and don’ts—not cursing, not drinking, not murdering. They see external behavior as the fact of Christianity instead of the manifestation of it. They don’t cultivate the inner graces.  Of course, God wants us to live righteous lives. But to those with merely external actions, Jesus said, “Woe to you . . . hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence. . . . First clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also” (Matt. 23:25-26).
Don’t let yourself become a slave to external religion.
Prv. 4:23 ~ antidote to external righteousness....the Do's & Don'ts.
Colossians 3 is a good chapter to read in regard to putting on / putting off - the Greek sense is taking off dirty clothes at the end of the day.  So let's fill our minds to be like Christ so our attitudes dictate our actions.
