Part IV Bible Study Ps. 19

So we begin again with our study.  I hope you have been reading it and re-reading it & committing it to memory.  I will again link the song as [at least for me] it helps with memorizing.

Vs 8 ~ The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

~ Precepts ~ Strong's #6490.  פִּקּוּד piqqûwd, pik-kood´; or פִּקֻּד piqqûd, pik-kood´; from 6485; prop, appointed, i.e. a mandate (of God; plur. only, collect. for the Law):—commandment, precept, statute.

In verses 7-8 each line contains a synonym for God's Word.  The synonym precepts, looks upon God's word as orders, charges, statutes, etc.  They are viewed as the Governor's governings.

I looked up these references, [which i encourage you to do also-they're linked,] and the Hebrew in Ps. 103:18 says this about the word keep:

8104.  שָׁמַר shâmar, shaw-mar´; a prim. root; prop. to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard; gen. to protect, attend to, etc.:—beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).

and for those who remember:

2142.  זָכַר zâkar, zaw-kar´... (make) mention (of), be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to (in) remembrance, × still, think on, × well.

Ps. 111:7 says that all his precepts are reliable: 

539.  אָמַן ʾâman, aw-man´; a prim. root; prop. to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse; fig. to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet; mor. to be true or certain; once (Isa. 30:21; by interch. for 541) to go to the right hand:—hence assurance, believe, bring up, establish, + fail, be faithful (of long continuance, stedfast, sure, surely, trusty, verified), nurse, (-ing father), (put), trust, turn to the right.

and Ps. 119:4 says that we should keep [look above at #8104] his precepts diligently which is this:

3966.  מְאֹד meʿôd, meh-ode´; from the same as 181; prop. vehemence, i.e. (with or without prep.) vehemently; by impl. wholly, speedily, etc. (often with other words as an intensive or superlative; espec. when repeated):—diligently, especially, exceeding (-ly), far, fast, good, great (-ly), × louder and louder, might (-ily, -y), (so) much, quickly, (so) sore, utterly, very (+ much, sore), well.

What God says in His Word is reliable as we keep them [precepts] about us & do as His Word says.  What a promise from Yahweh our Creator God!
